The 100 mile garage sale takes place every year in Minnesota down by Red Wing. It goes from Hastings to Winona and travels back and forth across the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Wait until you see the Mid Century vintage haul on this video!

I love the 100 Mile garage sale! As a vintage seller it’s the fastest way to load up on inventory.  All-City sales and sales like the 100 mile garage sale maximize the amount of inventory and minimize your time. Instead of long hours of driving and finding no sales this is a guaranteed mother-load!

Time is money after all. I do have to pay for a hotel when I go on this sale but the vintage haul that I come out with is worth it. I more than recoup my costs once everything is listed one Etsy or priced and put into my brick and mortar shop. It’s a sale I try not to miss.

See some of the vintage piece I took home by watching the video below!

This charity shop thrift haul came with treats! You have to love that!

I swear I don’t go to this thrift store for the cake, but it doesn’t hurt. I got an amazing amount of vintage in this haul.

Thankfully I found vintage Tupperware because I gave an interview about vintage Tupperware awhile back and now people come to my shop looking for vintage Tupperware. And I didn’t have any. Yep, I dropped the ball.

Lucky for me someone decided to clean out their Tupperware cupboard and I was able to pick up quite a few pieces.

I also stopped at my local hardware store and scored some oops paint! When you find white oops paint you just buy it. Even if you don’t need it.  You can use it to mix brighter colors down to a lighter color that more clients find palatable. Of course you can always use it to paint furniture white too.

Join me in this thrift haul! Watch the video below:

Auction and Goodwill Outlet Haul 2019

May 3, 2019

If you haven’t been to a Goodwill Outlet it’s an experience! See my Auction and Goodwill Outlet haul in the video below.

This was the second time I’d gone to a Goodwill Outlet. This time I took the OG (Old Guy – AKA Dad) and he was amazed!

If you’ve never been to the Goodwill outlet they weight your purchases. They then charge you by the pound for what you find. Also know as “The Bins” it’s where those in the junkin’ know go to score DEEP discounts.

It’s a complete mad house. While we were at this particular location two women broke into a fight over something that was in a clothing bin. You can find designer clothing in the bins and a lot of clothing resellers line up all day long to find the best pieces (some still with tags).

Lucky for me I was on the outer edge of the melee where the home goods are. I think there aren’t many of us vintage home resellers there because home goods are not treated gently by the workers.  The dump boxes of glass into the bins and if you find pieces intact you are luck!

I was luck and I came away with a Goodwill Outlet Haul!

I’ve Never Been So Proud!

April 4, 2019

If you’ve seen my YouTube Channel then you know my daughter Victoria goes with me on a lot of my junking runs. All summer she’s with me every time I hit a sale. She is my right arm and my favorite junking buddy.  On my Etsy shop, I say that she has a good eye and I am not saying that to be cute.  She really does. I’m proud of her every day but wait until you hear why this time!

She surprises even me at times. I know that she’s with me but sometimes I forget that she sees everything that I do. The good, the bad, and the downright disturbing.  You know everything!

Sometimes she complains when I want to go junking so I’ve always assumed that she wasn’t all that interested in what I do. Until today!

We went to one of my favorite thrifting spots. It was at the end of their day so I had to make the run through the store really quick which means I tend to miss some things.

Junking Buddy was pushing the cart with a nonplussed look on her face.  First I heard her yell, “Mom!” and I assumed she spotted a toy or a wedding dress she wanted (she has a love affair with wedding dressed), but I turned around and she had found a piece of foam.  If you reupholster as many chair seats as I do you are always looking for more foam.  The piece she found was perfect for a single chair and only cost $0.70. Score!

Then we made our way into the glassware department. This is where my heart soared!! I spotted a white bowl and asked her if it was ironstone. Junking Buddy promptly flipped it over, but there was not hallmark on the bottom.  Before I could take the bowl from her she flicked the edge and listened intently with all the concentration of a professional. Oh, be still my heart!  She knows how to identify ironstone by the sound! I love her so much.

That bowl was ceramic, but we were able to find a nice piece of ironstone on the next shelf over. Which she promptly clicked the edge of and smiled.

Our kids pick up so much from us that we’re not aware of.  I learned from my parents and grandparents and she is learning from me.  I hope she learns all the good things like how to bird dog ironstone and none of the bad things like how to curse like a sailor.

Only time will tell!
